Andy Clark is a composer/arranger with a diverse background of musical and publishing experiences. A native of Alva, Oklahoma, Andy spent 4 years as chief arranger and featured trombonist and drummer with the U.S. Air Force “CONAC BAND.” After his discharge, Andy was a very successful high school band director and music supervisor for the Rose Hill, Kansas, Public Schools. In 1976 he resigned his teaching position to devote full time to a growing music publishing business, Norman Lee Publishing.

As a composer and arranger, Andy has over 250 band numbers published with five publishers, and has served as a clinician at events in 28 states. Until the summer of 1988, Andy also continued to perform professionally and was the leader of “Andy Clark & the KLEO Radio Orchestra,” a 15 piece big band made of the top professional players in the Wichita area.

In 1982 Norman Lee Publishing and Andy created a new line of posters, books, and other products featuring “Harry L. Dinkle” and other comic strip characters from Tom Batiuk’s internationally syndicated “Funky Winkerbean” comic strip. The close association with Tom Batiuk and the “Funky Winkerbean” strip continues to this day and in 1986, Tom Batiuk and Andy collaborated in writing “Funky Winkerbean’s Homecoming,” a 2-hour stage musical based on the popular comic strip.

In July 1988, both Andy and Norman Lee Publishing moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa, joining the management staff of the C.L. Barnhouse Company. As Chief Executive Officer of the C. L. Barnhouse Company, his duties include helping to select, edit, and write music for many C.L. Barnhouse band series, especially those at the elementary & junior high levels.
