As a well-established C. L. Barnhouse composer, Howard Rowe’s compositions for jazz and concert band as well as string and chamber ensembles have been performed worldwide. He has earned a reputation for producing material well suited to the abilities of developing musicians and that is fun to play. The recipient of many ASCAP awards, he has received numerous commissions, and was a composer-in-residence for The Commission Project, a highly regarded international organization for ten years. As an educator he is the recipient of the Outstanding Young Educator Award from the Henrietta Jaycees and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Outstanding Music Educator Award.

Many of Howard’s best selling jazz compositions are included on the compact disc “Hot Sauce!,” performed by the Studio A Big Band, available from Walking Frog Records.

Howard is a resident of Fairport, NY. His education includes The Eastman School of Music, Berklee College of Music and degrees in music education from Syracuse University and Ithaca College. Howard is retired from the Rush-Henrietta Central Schools where he taught at all grade levels for 32 years.
